Remote- Software Engineer III (Python/ML Systems Engineer)

Job Title: Software Engineer III (Python/ML Systems Engineer)
Location: Remote (Ideally EST, but open to North America)
Duration: 1 year contract (possibility of extension)
Pay Rate: Up to $90-$100/hr W2
 
Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled Python/ML Systems Engineer to join a team focused on advancing research and innovation in artificial intelligence. The ideal candidate will have deep experience in Python, PyTorch, and large-scale machine learning systems, with a strong background in distributed training, data pipelines, and open-source contributions.
This role involves developing and maintaining deep learning libraries, enabling distributed training, open sourcing high-quality code, creating documentation, and supporting users in effectively adopting the solutions built by the team.
 
Responsibilities:
  • Design, engineer, and implement scalable machine learning systems and tools for research.
  • Build and maintain distributed ML libraries to support large-scale training.
  • Write clean, efficient, and maintainable Python/ML code.
  • Create documentation and support the developer/research community in adopting tools.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams in a fast-paced environment.
 
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • 5+ years of professional Python development experience.
  • 2+ years of PyTorch experience.
  • Experience with dataset management and PyTorch DataLoader (5+ years).
  • Understanding of Distributed ML Training (FSDP/DDP).
  • 3+ years of open-source software contributions.
  • Strong knowledge of algorithms, data structures, and software engineering best practices.
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
 
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Prior contributions to open-source AI/ML projects.
  • Experience with TensorFlow.
  • Strong C++ programming experience.
