Job Title: Material Buyer
Location: 9831 W Tangerine Rd Marana, AZ 85653
Schedule: Monday - Friday 9:00AM - 5:00PM 
Pay Rate: $30 – $40 per hour (depending on experience)
Contract Type: 1 year contract contract with potential extension or conversion to a direct hire

The Material Buyer is responsible for purchasing all materials required to support production activities at RTD Tucson Operations and affiliated ION production sites. This role ensures timely material availability by managing purchase orders, supplier relationships, and data accuracy within procurement systems. The Buyer will collaborate cross-functionally with production planners, warehouse staff, suppliers, and quality teams to maintain a reliable supply chain, while also supporting process improvement and supplier development initiatives.

Operational Buying:

• Perform daily, weekly, and monthly standard work to meet procurement objectives.

• Process purchase requisitions, issue purchase orders, and resolve order-related issues with global suppliers.

• Manage supplier forecasts, anticipate production plan changes, and adjust to ensure material availability.

• Review and approve invoices, resolve discrepancies, and ensure timely processing to avoid delays.

• Maintain accurate supplier data in SAP and iCollab; generate reports and act as key user/first-level support for procurement tools.

Material Availability & Delivery Monitoring:

• Track and ensure on-time deliveries; escalate potential delays and implement risk mitigation actions.

• Confirm product availability and negotiate alternative solutions when shortages occur.

• Collaborate with production planners, warehouse staff, and customers to ensure timely material readiness.

• Support supplier capacity planning and set priorities across the ION production network.

Supplier Management & Collaboration:

• Prepare information for supplier reviews and long-term supplier development activities.

• Ensure smooth processes for supplier collaboration and manage supplier access and issue resolution in iCollab.

• Visit supplier facilities for problem solving and continuous improvement initiatives.

• Support projects to improve efficiency, automation, and supplier performance.

Teamwork & Cross-Functional Collaboration:

• Work with stakeholders at all levels, internally and externally, to meet delivery schedules.

• Communicate proactively with departments to resolve or prevent supply chain issues.

• Facilitate cross-team discussions to ensure timely implementation of Change Orders.

• Partner with Manufacturing and Quality to disposition discrepant materials.

Project & Continuous Improvement (up to 30%):

• Contribute to cross-site initiatives and stakeholder-driven projects.

• Identify and propose cost-saving opportunities, such as quantity discounts.

• Optimize procurement processes to improve efficiency and quality standards.

• Ensure compliance with FDA and Quality Systems requirements.

• Bachelor’s Degree required.

• 0–5 years of material buying/purchasing experience.

• Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.

• Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy.

• Ability to follow written procedures, multitask, and adapt to change.

• Strong mathematical aptitude and problem-solving ability.

• Ability to learn ERP systems; knowledge of SAP preferred.

• Proficiency with Google Suite and Microsoft Office tools.

• Understanding of inventory management and material flow.

• Demonstrated continuous improvement mindset (LEAN, change agent qualities).

• Strong teamwork and collaboration skills; able to work across sites and functions.
