Job Description:
The Systems Engineer will support on-market electro-mechanical instruments by addressing field issues, identifying root causes, proposing fixes, and ensuring compliance with risk and requirements standards. This role combines hands-on lab work with rigorous documentation and verification processes.
Responsibilities:
- Support hardware-centric electro-mechanical instruments in the field.
- Conduct risk and requirements assessments, manage verification, and maintain documentation.
- Perform troubleshooting, testing, and hands-on lab work including instrument repair/replacement.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with mechanical, electrical, and systems engineers.
- Write protocols, technical documents, and reports for risk and verification activities.
- Support continuous improvement of instrument reliability and compliance.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Systems Engineering, or other technical discipline (Chemistry background considered).
- 0–2+ years of experience (internships, projects, or hands-on hobbies acceptable).
- Six Sigma certification is a plus (not required).
- Experience with electro-mechanical devices highly preferred.
Top 3 Skills:
- Hands-on experience with electro-mechanical devices (professional or hobbyist, e.g., cars, aerospace, robotics).
- Knowledge of risk and requirements management (academic or professional).
- Strong documentation and technical writing skills (protocols, reports, presentations).
Soft Skills / Technical Skills:
- Analytical and problem-solving mindset.
- Ability to work cross-functionally.
- Flexible and adaptable (open to learning and shaping).
- Familiarity with tools like Minitab (statistical analysis) and Retain/Retina (risk requirements software) is a plus.
- Documentation management systems (e.g., myPLM) experience is nice-to-have.
Domain or Background:
- Mechanical, Electrical, Systems, or Chemical Engineering.
- Aerospace, automotive, medical devices, or similar technical hardware domains are relevant.
