Job Title: Operational Buyer Direct III
Location: 1000 New Horizons Way, Vacaville, CA 95688
Contract Length: 6+ months (potential for extension or permanent hire)
Pay Rate: $23.44 – $39.06/hour

Position Overview:
The Operational Buyer Direct III is responsible for proactively managing raw material supplier performance to ensure accurate execution of the Material Requirement Plan (MRP). This role maintains up-to-date Procurement Master Data in SAP to support reliable MRP calculations and an efficient purchase order (PO) process. The position supports category managers and strategic buyers in implementing supply strategies and collaborates closely with Accounts Payable to resolve invoice issues.
 
Key Responsibilities:

• Monitor and track supplier performance; provide feedback to strategic buyers and category managers.
• Support supplier change initiatives and other projects led by Category Managers or Strategic Buyers.
• Collaborate with the procurement team to ensure accurate material/vendor master data and outline agreements in SAP.
• Oversee Level 2 vendor escalations, including:
  • Expediting deliveries to meet MRP and production needs.
  • Managing MRP-driven changes to delivery dates (“Push Out” or “Pull In”).
  • Addressing late or missing PO confirmations.
  • Resolving pricing discrepancies and shipping/delivery issues.
• Drive improvements in vendor performance for on-time delivery, quality, and compliance.
• Manage and resolve vendor returns (RMA, cost recovery, replacements).
• Conduct regular open order review meetings with vendors.
• Resolve Accounts Payable (AP) inquiries, including invoice issues.
• Support internal stakeholders in onboarding and approving new raw materials and suppliers.
• Lead competitive bid processes/RFx interventions based on policies.
• Negotiate low-value supplier contracts.
• Train and supervise junior team members.
• Take on additional duties as assigned.

 
Qualifications and Skills:

• Strong customer service orientation; skilled at managing multiple priorities.
• Positive attitude with a willingness to learn new skills.
• Understanding of general business practices.
• Experience with operational procurement and direct purchasing (from requisition to PO).
• Background in conducting competitive bid processes and low-value supplier negotiations.
• Track record of managing suppliers and influencing outcomes to benefit the company.
• Practical experience with SAP ERP in a purchasing/procurement capacity.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
• APICS certification or equivalent MRP Planner credential is a plus.
