Digital Preservation & Asset Management Specialist
Location: Hybrid out of downtown Columbus, OH office
Pay: $30.27/hr
Schedule: Regular business hours, M-F
Start Date: 09/15/25, pending completion of onboarding paperwork
Core Competencies:
Digital Preservation
- Implement and maintain digital preservation strategies and workflows
- Monitor and ensure the integrity and authenticity of digital assets over time
- Assist in developing new digital preservation standards, protocols and procedures for *** History & Archives
Metadata Creation and Management
- Create, edit, convert, and maintain metadata using standards such as Dublin Core and EAD
- Ensure metadata consistency and interoperability across systems
Digital Asset Management
- Organize, catalog and manage historically significant digital collections using Preservica, Aprimo, and Box.com and other relevant asset management applications
- Migrate digital assets into Preservica
Digitization Projects
- Coordinate and conduct digitization of physical materials, including scanning, quality control and file management
- Oversee conversion of existing assets from obsolete formats to ensure future-proofing for asset access
Support access and research
- As requested by History & Archives leadership, conduct research into digital collections to respond to inquiries from internal and external partners
Project management
- Manage or contribute to digital projects, including timeline, deliverables and reporting.
Requirements:
Knowledge
- Archival theory and digital preservation principles
- Metadata standards (e.g. Dublin Core and EAD)
- Digital formats and file types
- Copyright and intellectual property issues related to digital content
Work experience
- Bachelors degree (Master's preferred) in Archives or Library management, or related information/data management field
- 1-3 years experience working with digital asset management systems and/or digitized historical assets
Abilities/Skills
- Analyze and solve technical problems related to digital preservation
- Communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders and business partners
- Adapt to evolving technical and archival standards, as well as ***-specific preferences
- Knowledge of digital asset management systems (e.g. Preservica, Aprimo, Nuxeo)
- Experience with digitization hardware and software (e.g. scanners and OCR tools)
- Strong organization and project management skills
