Job Title: Specimen Return Specialist I
Location: On-Site – Morrisville, NC
Pay Rate: $21/hr
Contract: 3 months (potential for extension or permanent placement)

About the Role:
We are seeking a detail-oriented Specimen Return Specialist I to join our team. In this role, you will manage specimen returns, prepare shipments, and ensure accurate sample tracking in a fast-paced laboratory environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Process daily address information to generate shipping labels.
• Pull and organize blocks and slides for associated reports.
• Sort and file FFPE blocks in chronological order.
• Assemble packages with reports, blocks, and shipping labels; prepare for shipment.
• Update sample tracking systems accurately.
• Collaborate with Client Services to expedite block return requests.
• Perform QC on FFPE blocks and apply barcodes.
• Complete assignments independently with minimal supervision.

Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or GED required; Associate’s Degree preferred.
• 1+ year of experience in a CLIA lab, clinical lab, or clinical diagnostics setting.
• Experience with accessioning, anatomic pathology, or shipping/receiving processes.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced lab environment.
• Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Understanding of HIPAA and commitment to patient data privacy.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
