Location: New York, NY (Onsite)
Pay Rate: $65–$70/hr on W2
Duration: 04+ Months (Contract, with potential extension)

About the Role:

  • We are seeking an experienced Counterparty Risk Underwriter to join our team and help manage a growing backlog of underwriting evaluations. This role requires deep expertise in financial institution underwriting, with a focus on applying the CAMELS methodology to assess counterparty risk across large banks and insurance companies.
  • The ideal candidate will bring strong analytical skills, the ability to interpret complex financial data, and experience underwriting in derivatives markets (IRD, FX, RPA-Outs, RPA-Ins). You’ll be responsible for creating underwrites—not just reviewing them—and clearly justifying your rationale.

Responsibilities:
  • Perform underwriting for large financial institutions using CAMELS methodology
  • Interpret and analyze financial statements, ratios, and credit ratings to determine counterparty risk
  • Underwrite transactions involving derivatives, IRD, FX, RPA-Outs, and RPA-Ins
  • Leverage market analysis, reputation, and risk ratings to assess counterparties
  • Prepare comprehensive risk evaluations for banks and insurance companies
  • Partner with internal teams to ensure timely completion of backlog underwriting requests
  • Document and present underwriting decisions with clear rationale

Must-Have Qualifications:
  • 7–10 years of financial institution underwriting experience (no consumer/general loan underwriting)
  • Strong knowledge of CAMELS methodology and counterparty risk evaluation
  • Experience underwriting for banks and insurance companies
  • Familiarity with derivatives products (IRD, FX, RPA-Outs, RPA-Ins)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook (Salesforce experience a plus)
  • Strong analytical, communication, and documentation skills
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, or related field

Nice-to-Have Qualifications:
  • MBA or CFA designation
  • Experience at a regional or large financial institution (e.g., JPMC, Citi, Wells Fargo, regional banks)

Pursuant to the California Fair Chance Act and related ordinances, qualified applicants with arrest or conviction records will be considered. Please note that certain criminal histories may directly impact the ability to perform essential job duties and meet company standards.
