Job Title: Retail Merchandising Senior Manager
Location: 420 5th Avenue, New York, NY 10018
Pay Rate: $52.75/hour (based on 40 hours/week)
Assignment Details:
Duration: 3–5 months
Start Date: ASAP
Work Schedule: MON TO FRI 40 hours/week (8:00 AM – 5:00 PM)
Work Model: Hybrid (2–3 days onsite)
Overview
The Retail Merchandising Senior Manager for AFA is responsible for leading the buying strategy, assortment planning, and product allocation for Apparel, Footwear, and Accessories across Oakley Retail North America stores and outlets.
Key Responsibilities
Collaborate with global Oakley AFA teams to support collection development aligned with North America retail needs
Develop and execute assortment strategies, including end-to-end buying and allocation processes
Share and align “Smart Shopper” assortment plans with global stakeholders
Partner with Visual Merchandising teams to support product launches and in-store execution
Lead product buying reviews, including performance analysis and training materials for field teams
Coordinate with Distribution Centers to manage product drop calendars, allocation, and replenishment
Establish effective communication between global teams and internal execution teams
Troubleshoot product master data issues in collaboration with relevant teams
Lead cross-functional AFA initiatives and projects
Support inventory-related activities (e.g., obsolete stock, transfers, reporting)
Partner with Operations and Finance on recurring planning and reporting needs
Support ad hoc product requests (samples, events, PR initiatives)
Develop and manage reporting on sales performance and inventory metrics
Lead recurring product performance review meetings
Manage end-of-season activities, including markdown strategies
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Retail, Finance, Marketing, or a related field
5+ years of experience in retail planning, buying, or merchandising
Strong understanding of merchandising, planning, and buying principles
Proficiency in Excel and merchandising/planning systems (e.g., DPM, RPAS, Planning Files, AFS1, FMS1)
Knowledge of manufacturing processes and systems
Strong financial acumen with the ability to interpret and communicate merchandising results
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working with international teams and global projects
Background in apparel and/or sporting goods industry (preferred)
Flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced environment
