We're looking for an Energy Billing Specialist to support financial reporting and billing operations for a growing data center portfolio. This role focuses on invoice reconciliation, accrual management, and billing process improvements, working closely with finance, accounting, and analytics teams.
Responsibilities:
Financial Reconciliation & Accruals:

Job Overview:
We're looking for an Energy Billing Specialist to support financial reporting and billing operations for a growing data center portfolio. This role focuses on invoice reconciliation, accrual management, and billing process improvements, working closely with finance, accounting, and analytics teams.
Responsibilities:
Financial Reconciliation & Accruals:
- Execute and support monthly and quarterly close processes, identifying proactive solutions for process optimization.
- Manage monthly energy accruals by reconciling cost estimates, General Ledger (GL) entries, and internal invoice trackers in collaboration with finance, accounting, and Energy Analytics.
- Apply a strong understanding of accrual accounting and reconciliation processes.
- Cross-Functional & Relationship Management:
- Act as the primary cross-functional liaison, managing relationships across Accounting, Treasury, and COE.
- Serve as the main Point of Contact (POC) for investigating and identifying root causes of financial data mismatches between the system of financial record and Energy's invoice database.
- Provide payment issue resolution by triaging and resolving instances of non-payment or incorrect payment processing.
- Identify opportunities for efficiencies and develop insights into the cash posting process.
- Map payment processes, covering invoice receipt, payment, and treasury/cash management.
- Document and improve upon existing processes, with a focus on automation and scale.
- Manage and establish billing processes for our client's expanding portfolio of leased data centers.
- Finance & Accounting Systems Experience (5+ years, including accruals, reconciliations, GL management)
- Proficiency in Excel (Essential; bonus for VBA, SQL, Python)
- Analytical Mindset (Experience working with large datasets)
- Cross-Functional Communication (Ability to work with Accounting, Treasury, COE, and other teams)
- Strategic Problem Solving: Proactively identify gaps and drive effective solutions.
- Domain Expertise: Experience in energy or data center related fields.
- Process Excellence: Document, automate, and scale processes through effective mapping and continuous improvement.
- Vision Alignment: Cultivate a shared vision for a common and consistent approach.
- Effective Communication: Maintain clear, proactive, and strong communication for successful relationship management.
- Finance/accounting experience (CPA not required)
- Advanced Excel; comfortable with SQL/Python
- Analytical, works with large datasets and cross-functional teams
- Proactive problem-solver, improves processes, closes gaps
- Strong communicator, takes initiative
