IT Field Support IV

Our client is seeking an IT Systems Field Support, who will be the backbone of a high-volume data collections lab, ensuring the stability and performance of a mission-critical fleet. Will manage over 130+ Fedora Linux and Windows machines on an isolated lab network, balancing hands-on hardware troubleshooting with high-level system administration and automation.

• Fleet Maintenance: Maintain and troubleshoot a mixed environment of Fedora Linux workstations, Windows machines, and database servers.

• Provisioning: Deploy and image new hardware to expand operational capacity.

• Technical Support: Serve as the primary point of contact for non-technical operators to resolve day-to-day technical hurdles.

• Infrastructure & Networking: Manage local network connectivity, including static IP assignments, DNS, and firewall configurations within an isolated environment.

• User Management: Administer user accounts and access controls across the local network.

• Hardware Health: Troubleshoot peripherals, connected devices, and core hardware components to minimize downtime.

• OS Administration: Proficiency in both Windows and Linux (specifically Fedora or RHEL-based distributions).

• Scripting & CLI: Comfortable navigating and executing commands in Bash and PowerShell.

• Networking Fundamentals: Solid understanding of static IP addressing, DNS, firewalls, and managing isolated network segments.

• Automation: Experience with Ansible or similar IT automation tools for fleet management.

• Advanced Scripting: Ability to write and maintain custom Bash or PowerShell scripts to automate repetitive tasks.

• PostgreSQL Administration: Familiarity with backups, user management, and running basic SQL queries.

• Service Management: Experience managing and troubleshooting system services on Linux and standard Windows Services.

You are a proactive problem-solver who enjoys the "detective work" of troubleshooting complex hardware and software issues. You are just as comfortable in the command line as you are explaining a technical solution to a non-technical teammate.
