Job Title: Linguist II – Korean
Location: New York, NY | Burlingame, CA | Seattle, WA (Hybrid)
Duration: 9 Months Contract (Possibility of Extension)
Pay Rate: $57/hr on W2
Summary
We are seeking a Linguist with native fluency in Korean and strong linguistic data analysis skills to support the development of language components for a variety of voice-enabled technologies and products. The ideal candidate will have experience managing data collection, LLM-powered data synthesis, annotation, prompt engineering, localization, and quality evaluations, while collaborating closely in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

Summary

The ideal candidate will have experience managing data collection, LLM-powered data synthesis, annotation, prompt engineering, localization, and quality evaluations, while collaborating closely in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Responsibilities
- Provide linguistic expertise in syntax, semantics, pragmatics, and sociolinguistics
- Collaborate with other linguists and data operations teams in data collection, curation, translation, localization, and annotation
- Evaluate and curate data sets for ML models using LLM solutions
- Assess model and data quality and perform prompt engineering
- Collaboratively develop complex and consistent linguistic analyses
Required Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Linguistics (General, Computational, Speech Science, or related field) — emphasis on Romance languages is a plus
- Native or near-native fluency in Korean and at least one additional language
- Awareness of Indian languages and their linguistic, cultural, and local nuances
- Strong knowledge of syntax, semantics, pragmatics, sociolinguistics, and corpus linguistics
- Experience working with speech and text data in multiple languages
- Familiarity with Large Language Models (LLMs) and prompt engineering
- Experience with database queries and data analysis tools (SQL, RegEx, spreadsheets, R, Unix, etc.)
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and excellent verbal/written communication
- Comfortable working in a highly collaborative, fast-paced environment
Preferred Qualifications
- PhD in Linguistics, Romance languages, computational linguistics, speech science, or related field
- Proficiency in Python
- Experience with machine learning frameworks, NLP libraries, and tools
