Operations Technician III
Job Role: Operations Technician III
Location: 2228 Allen Drive Salisbury, MD 21801
Shift: Day Shift | 5:30 AM – Finish (Typically 4:00–4:30 PM)
Schedule: Monday–Friday (4–5 days per week)
Pay Rate: $17.00 - $18.00 per hour
Contract: 6 months contract, possible conversion to direct hire

Job Description:
We are seeking dependable and detail-oriented individuals to support both the collection and laboratory processing of horseshoe crab blood. This role involves hands-on work in aquatic handling environments as well as laboratory settings. Selected candidates will receive training on SOPs, cGMP standards, aseptic techniques, and disinfecting procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
Horseshoe Crab Blood Collection
- Assist with blood collection per approved SOPs
- Set up and prepare collection areas
- Clean and prepare crabs for processing
- Aseptically collect blood
- Clean and disinfect work areas at the end of each day
Laboratory Processing
- Perform lab duties including centrifuging, pipetting, sonication, and solution preparation
- Clean and disinfect lab equipment and workspaces
- Support overall processing operations
Aseptic Handling & Documentation
- Handle filled and unfilled collection bottles in bio-safety cabinets (hoods)
- Accurately complete all required paperwork and documentation per SOPs
General Support Duties
- Clean and maintain production equipment
- Tag crabs using U.S. Fish & Wildlife tags
Experience & Skills Requirements:
Education:
- High School Diploma required
- College degree preferred
Professional Experience:
- 1–2 years of experience in a production, laboratory, or similar environment preferred
Technical & Soft Skills:
- Ability to follow detailed written procedures
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Team-oriented mindset
- Basic computer skills
Working Conditions:
- Work environment varies between laboratory and crab holding areas
- Exposure to strong disinfectants (not suitable for individuals with sensitivities)
- Requires standing for long periods, repetitive motions, and lifting up to 50 lbs
- Overtime may be required
