Job Description
The Robotics Systems team at client’s Reality Labs is seeking a Software Engineer to design and implement hardware–software system integration that enables state-of-the-art control algorithms and models on real robot hardware and in simulation environments.
About the Team
- We are a multidisciplinary group passionate about mapping raw sensory signals to interpretable perceptual information for VR/AR, human interaction, and robotics.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with research scientists and engineers to integrate hardware and software for robotic/mechatronic systems.
- Design and conduct thorough evaluations of real-world robotic systems, identify limitations, and propose improvements to enhance performance and robustness.
- Communicate complex features and system details effectively to diverse stakeholders.
- Perform experiments on real and simulated robotic/automation systems; debug and support parts manufacture in partnership with internal and external teams.
- Participate hands-on in the lab, assembling robots and integrating research sub-assemblies into full system-level prototypes.
- Conduct failure analysis: build subsystem test fixtures, design tests, create test plans, perform tests, measure and analyze data, and refine design assumptions.
- Develop communication firmware/software for robotic subsystems.
- Research, develop, and calibrate characterization/training sensors.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a relevant technical field (or equivalent practical experience).
- 3–4+ years of experience in Robotics, Mechatronics, Electro-Mechanical Design, Sensor & Communications, or similar fields.
- Experience with hardware–software integration for real-time systems.
- Proficiency in Robot Operating System (ROS 1 & 2).
- Proficiency in C++ and/or Python (including frameworks such as PyTorch or JAX).
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with SOLIDWORKS, Siemens NX, or similar CAD tools.
- Experience with manufacturing processes and materials.
- Experience using machine learning tools.
- Experience with simulation tools and finite element analysis (structural, modal).
- Experience with automation equipment design and custom machine builds.
Must-Have Skills
- Combination of software and hardware experience, specifically integrating hardware with software.
- Strong experience working with sensors and managing software systems.
- Hands-on experience integrating hardware into software (including for PhD fresh graduates).
Degrees/Certifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a relevant technical field (or equivalent practical experience).
Interview Process
- 1 Round Panel Interview: 3 interviewers with 1 candidate, 1 hour total.
