Global Project Manager

Global Project Manager 
Pay Rate: $63-$97 (based on experience)
Location: Indianapolis, IN (hybrid with 3 days/week onsite)
Schedule: Day Shift, M-F
1 year contract with potential for extension and/or permanent placement


The Opportunity
Our client has a broad portfolio across six customer areas that include our widely-used molecular, pathology, point-of-care and core solutions in conjunction with our provider insights and lab insights information solutions. The Project Management team works as part of the Portfolio and Project Management function to help each customer
area within DIA track and manage their portfolio from a strategic vantage point.
As part of the Project Management Chapter, the Global Project Manager (GPM) plays a key role in optimized product delivery, accountable for all project management aspects of various projects from simple to complex in nature. This includes the ability to act in a waterfall as well as an agile setting depending on the circumstances and the need of the
business. Takes project/product from the original concept through completion. Develops and directs detailed scope descriptions, work plans, schedules, project estimates, spending, resource plans, and status reports. Conducts project/ART meetings and is responsible for the definition and implementation of project risk mitigating measures.
Reports project goals (e.g, KPIs/OKRs) to enable teams and functions to measure and improve quality, efficiency and effectiveness. Recommends and takes action to analyze and find solutions to problems. We rely on GPMs to maximize the impact of our annual R&D investment. In order to do this, the GPM has a 360° view into the
organization and, with support from the broader Portfolio & Project Management organization, connects all data points & information into a neutral fact base to enable strategic discussions and decisions. As a trusted advisor the GPM translates and drives projects into products and enables the organization to use energy and time effectively and
efficiently. One of the key responsibilities to achieving this is holding all team members accountable towards the planned outcome.

Responsibilities
Orchestrates and leads SAFe practices, guides the Agile Release Train (ART) through strategic alignment and PI planning, ensures successful PI execution, coaches ART roles, optimizes flow by establishing pull systems, and relentlessly improves through problem-solving workshops and continuous refinement of technical and business practices to achieve operational excellence on a global scale
Collaborates with the Value Management Office (VMO), PPM chapters, Network Leads and Functional Partners to ensure information synergies and alignment in order to proactively eliminate hurdles that would impede the project/ART delivery
Sets up & implements project/ART structures for product development & product care activities including communication management, timelines, resource and budget plans, progress and cost control
Creates, coordinates and maintains integrated plans including dependencies, resources and budgets allowing the teams to work efficiently and effectively
Consistently executes project management processes including guiding and managing preparation for milestone reviews, capacity reviews (cQCR, SCR & fQCR), etc., as applicable & may lead improvement initiatives
Follows established project management best practices in project teams/ARTs and fosters their continuous improvement by sharing learnings and knowledge among the Project Management Chapters to enhance effectiveness and optimized delivery while maintaining a high standard of project management execution
Establishes positive project team/ART dynamics through team building
Manages and makes transparent project team/ART information to support the teams themselves, the Life Cycle Teams (LCTs) and/or other governing body decision making
Is acting as a trusted advisor with a 360° view on all levels to advise and support the project teams/&ARTs as well as the broader organization in the holistic planning; project risk management; scenario creation as well as critical path analysis with the aim to ensure an optimized value delivery
Identifies gaps, potential bottlenecks or delays, challenge assumptions and proposes options to close gaps and get activities back on track while communicating issues proactively to stakeholders
Frequently provides high level/pre-defined and recent planning data for full organizational transparency allowing for scenario analysis and decision making on a portfolio level
Ensures highest data quality of project/ART information to allow for organization wide analysis and informed decision making
Coach other members of the project team/ART as well as peers, develop new skills and provide ongoing, constructive feedback on performance and progress toward goals and expectations
Promotes a collaborative environment in all interactions
Perform other Project Management responsibilities as assigned

Qualifications 
Minimum Bachelor’s degree in science, engineering or business related fields; higher level degree a plus.
Minimum 5 years project management experience in the diagnostic, medical device, pharmaceutical or biotech industry leading complex new, product development and product care projects or equivalent
Experience with Agile development practices and mindset
PMP Certification as well as SAFe Certification highly preferred
Experience in clinical biomarker or In Vitro Diagnostic development
Experience in companion diagnostic development, analytical and clinical validations and regulatory submissions or instrument development and program management is a plus
Experience in a regulated industry (e.g. FDA 21 CFR part 820, ISO 13485, ISO 9001)
Demonstrated effective management of projects or ARTs
5%-15% travel involved

Skills
Strong problem-solving skills and critical thinking with the ability to synthesize information to identify relevant insights that will advise improvement opportunities
Understanding of how to translate insights and opportunities into meaningful change in an matrixed and decentralized organization such as Roche Diagnostics
Business acumen, high-level strategic thinking and strong analytical skills
Ability to structure, pragmatically scope, and solve abstract and complex problems as well as clearly articulate key analytical findings to a variety of audiences incl. managing/documenting scope changes across the project lifecycle
Strong interpersonal and influencing skills with an established ability to drive decisions
Working knowledge of Planisware, G-Suite and know-how of project management tools such as Trello, LucidSpark/LucidChart, Smartsheet, Jira, AHA!, etc.
Communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to lead, influence, negotiate, handle conflict and facilitate group meetings
Strong executive writing / presentation skills, cross-functional collaboration
Emotional intelligence skills including influencing without authority and navigating within a matrix environment, as well as interface effectively with all levels, including senior management
High self-confidence, self-motivation, strong critical and analytical thinking skills
Ability to thrive in an ambiguous and demanding environment with little oversight and has outstanding time management and self-prioritization skills
Demonstrated ability to effectively prioritize work and to lead with a creative mindset with a very high self-awareness
